Fun Tests About Reading and Books

What is your reading speed? What about your vocabulary level? Keen to find out how well-read you are? Or perhaps what type of reader you are? Let's look at some fun tests about reading and books.

What type of reading-related things can we test?

Test Your Reading Speed

Did you know that the average person reads between 200 to 300 words per minute (WPM). It is a bit faster for fiction and easier reading than it is for academic and non-fiction (I tested myself and ended up with a very average 227 words per minute - see image).

Here is the test that I did:

This would be brilliant if you have to write a speech or talk and have an allotted time to fill.

Test Your Reading Comprehension

A quick Google search turns up plenty of test options. These are mostly aimed at school-aged children or people learning to speak English, but here are a few that stood out:
